My History
Peta Steadman Kiff RSHom
Registered HomeopathMy first job before going to university was as a Medical Laboratory Scientific Officer and I went on to study Microbiology at Swansea University and then into Pharmaceutical Sales. I worked for a number of different companies who specialised in a wide variety of therapeutic areas for example cardiovascular disease, chest medicine for asthma, pain control especially for cancer pain and most recently Parkinson’s Disease.
I gradually became increasingly interested in complementary medicine despite my career and in addition to using some homeopathic treatments, I very successfully also used tissue salts and essential oils for various childhood illnesses which the children inevitably caught like tonsillitis and chicken pox.
My interest in homeopathy started when my elder daughter aged 3 had been prescribed two courses of antibiotics, both of which failed to help her chest infection. I was getting anxious because our GP mentioned that if her chest did not ‘clear up soon’ he would want her to go onto asthma medication.
I knew enough about this type of treatment to not want her to have to take it, unless it was absolutely necessary, especially as she was not an asthmatic and I mentioned it to her god-mother who was herself a GP. She had recently been on a homeopathy course and she selected a remedy for me to give my daughter.
She responded very quickly and within 24 hours her chesty cough had improved so much that she was no longer having breathing difficulties and she had her first full nights sleep for more than a week. A day later she was almost back to her energetic self and this quick response and recovery convinced me that the homeopathic remedy was what helped her.I knew that the remedies were very effective and gentle and free of side effects unlike many conventional medicines, and I really wanted to treat chronic conditions and to help other people. The only way I could this was to complete a professional course; with the support of my family I went to study at the British School of Homeopathy in Bath. http://www.homoeopathy.co.uk/
After 4 years of training including a year of supervised clinical practice, I gained my licence to practice and my registration with The Society of Homeopaths which is the UK’s largest registering body of Homeopaths.
The Society has a strict code of conduct and ensures the highest standards of training, practice and ethics. I regularly attend seminars and conferences which help me to keep up to date with current issues and information and I also have regular supervision and I meet with other homeopathic practitioners. To find out more about The Society of Homeopaths, and to view their website click here.
My Philosophy is to give my patients the best possible care that I can. I have a strong work ethic and I will always give them 100%. I know that I cannot make them better myself but I can give them the tools, whether this is a specific remedy or some other advice about their health, which if taken will help to effect a positive change however they must also engage in that responsibility to help themselves.
