About your Appointment
Peta Steadman Kiff RSHom
Registered HomeopathDuring an initial appointment I will be attempting to compile as complete a picture of the patient as possible which means I ask about their current symptoms, their individual characteristics, i.e., what makes them the person they are mentally, emotionally and physically. I also ask about their past medical history and any medication they have taken or are currently taking and about their general health, and their likes and dislikes. This normally takes between 1½-2 hours and takes the form of a conversation during which I take a lot of notes.
After the appointment I study my notes and this often takes 2-3 hours. Then I match this information picture as closely as possible to that of a single homeopathic remedy. Normally a few days later the patient receives a remedy in the post which may be only one small pill. This pillule is usually effective for several weeks and in some cases the effect may even last longer.
Advice will be given if appropriate about general well-being which may include simple hints about Nutrition and Lifestyle. I will refer the patient to another therapist if I feel that they will benefit from their expertise. I may advise the patient to use aromatherapy oils or I will give them a Bach Flower Remedy if I think these will help.
The remedy acts as a stimulus to the patient’s inner energy and once their body has been given the stimulus it needs, then their body will establish a more healthy balance and their own vitality takes over.
People frequently say that after taking a remedy, they feel more energetic and have an increased sense of wellbeing.Follow-up appointments of 1 hour are usually at monthly intervals for the first two months because this time is required for the body to adjust to the remedy and for it to respond. Often the patient feels very much better quite quickly but for long-standing illnesses more time may be needed before the balance of health is noticeably better.
This is not surprising because the patient may have suffered for many years with a condition which has not really responded to conventional treatment and the possible effects that any treatment has had on their health may have to be addressed first before they can begin to respond to homeopathic treatment.
